2020 Service Projects

Our camp highly values service to our community, and we strive to instill this value in our campers as well. During sessions, campers complete projects to help keep camp beautiful, promote camp spirit between units, and make improvements to our campsite.

If your troop, camp, or organization would like to partner with us to complete service projects around camp, please reach out to us using the form below. Our admin team will help you brainstorm ideas and work with Girls Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council for project guidance and approval.

Art Barn Renewal

The art barn needs to be cleaned and refitted back to its original purpose - group activity space. Project plans included adding fans and better lighting, as well as, cleaning out old materials, removing shelving, painting the inside a bright color, adding cork/chalk/activity boards, and building some standing tables and storage.

Scope: partial or complete project

Timeline: completed by summer 2020

Archery Range Expansion

Our archery range needs to be expanded to include a bigger safety area. This project includes building movable fence posts, upgrading the targets, etc.

Scope: full project

Timeline: completed by summer 2021

Running Creek Shelter Repairs

This project consists of two parts: interior and exterior. The inner shelter needs repair work completed to strengthen the sink area and a new standing table or counter top for food prep. The outer shelter is partially screened in. This project needs to be finished so that the outer area is all screened in, and a pony wall needs to be removed so that it is one, larger space.

Scope: inner shelter repairs, outer shelter repairs, or both

Primitive Camping Unit Reestablished

Historically, there was a primitive unit campsite along the trail connecting MultiPurpose to Patterson Hall. The leaves need to be raked out, a fire circle needs to be built, and pup tent mini-platforms need to be build.
